Babycenter:
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.
The Bump:
Baby's now the size of an eggplant!Baby's lungs are going through some major developments these days, which (combined with the opening of previously plugged nostrils) means she's now able to practice inhaling and exhaling. The lack of air in your womb means every "breath" is filled with amniotic fluid, but hey -- it's progress.
We have reached the 3rd trimester! Time has flown by. I cannot believe it. Tomorrow we go to find out exactly what Miss Ruthie's due date it. They have told us that most likely the due date is Jan 17th, but we will have an official date by then.
Other baby news: we have gone through all of Ruthie's clothes that we have at the moment. Washed anything that was not washed yet. Then we separated the clothes by size and put everything away into separate drawers. I am so excited! We have so many cute clothes and they keep coming. I cannot wait to put my little Ruthie into all of those adorable clothes!
Check back tomorrow for an update on what the midwife/doctor says tomorrow.
